Sue Seddon

My love of sport from an early age – swimming, running, rock-climbing, mountaineering and mountain biking – created an awareness of, and fascination with movement, fitness, and injuries and their rehabilitation.

I qualified from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits/Unisa) in 1999 with a BA Honours degree in Psychology followed by a BSc Honours degree in Physiotherapy in 2000. My anatomy training at Medical School developed my interest in orthopaedics and hand therapy so I completed a Diploma in Hand Therapy at Pretoria University in 2003. Subsequently, I worked in specialist hand units in the UK before returning to South Africa to work in private practice.

It became apparent to me that many patients require consistent and regular core strengthening for the rehabilitation of acute and chronic injuries. A Pilates repertoire provides for this alongside specific physiotherapy exercise programmes. With this in mind, I completed the BASI Mat and Comprehensive Pilates courses with Ashley Ritchie, a highly regarded BASI Pilates instructor.

That qualification has been an invaluable tool in my physiotherapy work.
I started Core Studios (previously named Physiotherapy and Pilates on Marlborough) in 2017. We are now a multi-disciplinary centre catering for Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Biokinetics, Pilates, Kids Pilates, Yoga, Modern Dance and Hip Hop.
